The nights are getting cool, or even COLD, outside... but that doesn't mean that has to be the case between the sheets! Or in a hot shower, or on the thick rug in front of the fire, or in the nice, toasty dungeon.

Now, this is a PG-13 hop, so we have to keep things to TV level, so cool it, all you kinky ladies and dudes. ;)

There are lots of ways to warm up when the leaves are falling (or... the snow, where I am). I'm thinking grilled cheese and homemade tomato soup, a long, hot bath (alone or with a friend), tucking up under your Snugee with a good book... or between the sheets (with a book or a friend... or with a book and grilled cheese, a melting candle, and a friend...) I think there's a pattern developing here, involving hot cheese and a friend.

There's no hot cheese in my novella IF WISHES WERE SHADOWS, but there are definitely HOT friends and HOT action involved. If you like it twisted and dark and full of vampires. Which I do. Follow the Rafflecopter bread crumbs below, chat me up in the comments, and you could win a copy.

But if you comment here, that's not all you're in for! The hop is offereing a terrific grand prize of $155 to really heat up your nights! At least, if you can get something fun from either Amazon or Barnes & Noble (Let's put it this way... you know how Amazon sells MORE than books? Yeah, well, let your naughty imagination go from there!)

Don't forget to stop at other stops on the hop for more chances to win!

The Winners of my BLACK FRIDAY BLOG HOP Giveaway!

First of all, I'd like to thank Carrie Ann of Carrie Ann's Blog Hops for sponsoring yet another fun and wonderful hop! It was a quickie, and smaller than the usual ones, but I still got to meet some wonderful new people.

The winners of a copy each of IF WISHES WERE SHADOWS are:

Veronika and LisaRayns!

I hope you ladies enjoy your prize, and that everyone had a great holiday -- and didn't get trampled in the Black Friday MADNESS! LOL

I just returned from visiting relatives, so it's going to be a bit before I catch up, but I'm working on some new activities and offerings for the blog in the future! Stay tuned and stay kinky! ;)

I don't know about you, but I think Black Friday is just a complete obscenity. Dragging workers out of their homes on Thanksgiving to go out and feed our mindless need to have EVERYTHING. RIGHT. NOW. Big business could easily offer exactly the same prices on, say, the following Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. But no, they've set up this disgusting display of consumerism that brings out the very worst of western culture, all packed in a single day of frenzied madness. People get trampled, robbed, and SHOT, for heaven's sake! And for what, the last Furby? A particular gadget over another exactly like it?

I've never once gone anywhere near this madness. I shop online almost exclusively for the holidays, except on Small Business Saturday, when I patronize local businesses and support my local economy. I'm certainly not going to let my hard earned dollars support this kind of greed and thoughtless grubbing.

But not to get all preachy -- this is supposed to be a FUN alternative to all that madness, for those of us sane enough to stay home. The BLACK FRIDAY BLOG HOP is about getting presents RIGHT HERE in the online book community from authors you love, or maybe from some new ones!

I will be giving away one copy of my new dark BDSM vampire menage novellette (phew!) IF WISHES WERE SHADOWS for a special winner of the drawing.

But there's MORE!

"While the rest of the US is out handling the crowds, fighting for their holiday gifts, some of us like to stay in, shop online, or just ignore Black Friday all to together. This year, join us in our second annual Black Friday Blog Hop! It's a ONE DAY hop where we're giving away prizes, talking about books we love, and most likely  eating left over turkey. :-)

The hop is November 23rd and is ONE DAY only.

And while we do that, we are EACH doing a giveaway. Yep. There will be over 200 giveaways on each blog hosted by that Author or Blogger.

But that's not all....

We have THREE grand prizes. You as a reader can go to EACH blog and comment with your email address and be entered to win. Yep, you can enter over 200 times!

Now what are those prizes?

1st Grand Prize: A Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet
2nd Grand Prize: A $75 Amazon or B&N Gift Card
3rd Grand Prize: A Swag Pack that contains paperbacks, ebooks, 50+ bookmarks, cover flats, magnets, pens, coffee cozies, and more!

Save yourself the stress and get some presents for yourself or the reader in your life!

IF WISHES WERE SHADOWS! Good, old fashioned, kinky vampire smut!

  • Publisher: Cobblestone Press (November 15, 2012)
  • ISBN:  978-1-60088-797-0

Calinda Byer is a self-assured, assertive businesswoman who knows what she wants -- and vampire Dom Adam Stratford is it. Their wild love life has awakened her inner submissive, introduced her to the special freedom of leaving her power and will with her clothes on the bedroom floor. She is ready for eternity with him to begin, to taste the world of immortal BDSM, where bodies are all but indestructible and there are no rules to keep things sane or safe.

Stratford has been around long enough, and known enough humans, to realize that the idea of being a vampire is often more romantic than the reality. There is innate violence, a relationship with blood and pain that mortals can't begin to understand, even in the depths of the most depraved dungeon. His truly deep feelings for Calinda prevent him from agreeing to her pleas to become a vampire until she has a much better idea of the things he does in the shadows when she isn't beside him.

A weekend at his country home promises dark delights like nothing Calinda ever dreamed, and surprises beyond her understanding. Will she risk her very soul to step into that sensual darkness, or will she say the safeword and run for her life?

Calinda’s heart thundered, her stomach fluttering with nerves, and she relished each sensation, tucking it away in her memory like some women might keep tickets to a show she’d attended with her lover. She had been an adrenaline junkie since the day she was born. Instead of drugs, she far preferred driving fast cars, jumping out of airplanes, and dating ancient, sadistic vampires than pills or needles. This occasion, with its mysteries and uncertainties, was better than any shot of pure heroin straight into her system, and the vampire she loved was giving it to her. He had become so many things to her in the two years they’d been together, and adrenaline dealer had been one of the greatest of them from the moment they met.

She remembered with an electric shiver through her system the first moment when she realized what he was, when she invited him home knowing what he could do to her. The biggest charge of her life. She gave his hand a squeeze in thanks. No, she had no difficulty in taking this journey. There was only one thing that could be at the bottom of this staircase, spiraling them into the depths of the earth together: the darkness he kept talking about, made manifest. The deepest shadows inside him. She was so eager to see it she was already wet.

Their relationship had started out like a scene from some romance novel twisted just the way she liked it. Adam had been sitting at the bar in Ernesto’s, an exclusive Italian bistro she enjoyed after business meetings in the city. She’d worn her dark blonde hair down that night and had on the tidy, well-tailored navy business suit that never failed to make an impact paired with red heels just a tad too high to be strictly proper. Those shoes had a tendency to impress clients just a tad more than the clothes.

Calinda spotted him from her accustomed table in the corner by the door, the perfect location to watch the crowd of rich, beautiful people coming and going. Adam caught her eye the moment he sat down, all yummy and big and dark, just the way she liked them. Six-feet-two at least, broad of shoulder and back with neatly trimmed black hair, and a pinstripe suit that no doubt cost ten times more than her own was worth. His bold, straight posture told her beyond any doubt that he was the king of all he surveyed. No, emperor was closer to the mark.

But it was one fine detail that had grabbed her attention and imagination in a vise grip and wouldn’t let go, that set her pulse racing and her junkie heart pounding…

His lack of reflection in the mirror above the bar. Calinda checked at least four times, even shifted to different places in the restaurant to be certain, but no matter where she went… there he wasn’t.

It was by far the biggest adrenaline rush of a lifetime spent awash in them. A vampire. An actual vampire. They not only existed, but there was an unbelievably hot one sitting right there in her favorite restaurant, casual as you please. Anyone who looked hard enough would be able to tell—what kind of balls did that take?

How could she resist?

She’d sidled up to the suddenly mysteriously empty seat beside the gorgeous vampire and slipped onto the high stool. Not one much for subtlety, she let her skirt ride up just high enough to allow a peek at her lacy stocking tops, crossed her long, slender legs to show off the heels, ordered a red wine for herself, and turned to her attention to her soon-to-be-new vampire friend.

“So I wonder,” she said, looking directly at the place where his face should appear in the mirror. “Do you drink… wine?”

She caught his smirk out of the corner of her eye. “Why, would you like to be… I’m sorry, excuse me, buy my drink?”

They laughed. There was no secret about what he was. No doubt that she knew. They were made for each other. It had been all adventure and blood, paddles and leather, feathers and handcuffs, hot wax and hot sex in wild and often public and dangerous places ever since. She didn’t know if it was obsession or love, and she didn’t care. Adam told her he had never known anyone like her in two thousand years, and without a doubt, she had never known anyone like him in twenty-six.

Her “monster.”

After a brief, nerve-shaking eternity, they reached the bottom of the stairs. Before them stood a formidable steel door that belonged in a high-tech science facility, not an eighteenth-century country house, complete with an elaborate security pad on the wall to the right. Adam keyed in a code and pressed his thumb to the surface, and the silver door whooshed open. Inside was a pristine white antechamber, walls lined with tall, lacquered bureaus and hooks in the wall above them. A veritable smorgasbord of clothing hung from the hooks, with shoes arranged on top of the bureaus, and no doubt a wider selection waited in the drawers. Everything from soft cotton loungewear to outfits created from shining patent leather strips and nothing else were in evidence.

Costumes didn't really interest her as they usually might. She was fixated on what lay in wait for her on the other side of the final door just ahead.

T Minus Two!

Two days until the release of IF WISHES WERE SHADOWS!

Calinda Byer is a powerful woman in the everyday world. She owns her own business teaching others to take control of their own professional lives, to be assertive, straightforward, to communicate and climb the ladder of their chosen careers. But when she steps through the door at home, she leaves her will at the door along with her clothes. Two years in love with a vampire, exploring the edges of BDSM, have shown her that taking the submissive role, putting her trust in the ultimate being of power, gives her more than any other relationship she could have imagined.

But she and Adam, her Dom, have reached an impasse in their relationship. He has always held back the full meaning of what it meant to be a vampire from her, not wanting to bring her into what he sees as his darkness. She loves him and the kinky path they've walked together. The possibility of eternity with him holds no fear for her, but the idea of losing him does. They comprimise: she will have a taste of the part of his existence he's kept from her. A weekend of depraved delights at his country estate, a demonstration of the depths of his desire, his hunger. Meet his longtime vampire lover. If all of these things please her, if she still wants him to bring her across, then...

All Calinda has to do is say the safe word, and she can return to the "normal" world... or can she?

IF WISHES WERE SHADOWS contains ADULT MATERIAL, and may not be appropriate for all erotica fans. It includes extreme hardcore BDSM, vampire violence and bloodplay, m/m and m/f/m sex, and dirty talking fun!

In other news, my next short story, the m/m paranormal short DIE FOR YOU, is off on its first submission journey. This is the most difficult of the process for me, the waiting. Rejections don't bother me -- not every editor is going to enjoy my stories. I never take that personally, and that just means I need to find a more suitable home for that particular piece. Most rejections I've ever received have been very helpful, and included personal notes from editors talking about what they liked and why specifically they didn't accept the book or story. Constructive criticism is ALWAYS a good thing.

It's Here! It's Here! The Cover Reveal for IF WISHES WERE SHADOWS!

Eeeeee! Okay, not freaking out. So uncool. But here it is -- I think it came out pretty great, but that's not unusual coming from the talented Sable Grey. Thanks Sable! *drum roll*

W00t! Yeah, baby. I don't know who to stare at first! I'm usually wary of faces on covers -- I don't like to make the decision for a reader what a character looks like. But his model is pretty much spot on to how I pictured Calinda, our adventure's Heroine!

Next I have to send these off to Holly over at FMB Blog Tours, who is arranging my tour from December 27, 2012 - January 25, 2013. I'll be sharing more details on that as they arise. I was also remiss in announcing the winner of the very sexy lace masquerade mask for the MIDNIGHT MASQUERADE Blog Hop!

The lucky winner is: MISHKA K.! Congratulations, Mishka! I hope your mask goes to good (and by "good" I mean "naughty" *G*) use!

I have many irons in the fire right now, and not a one is for branding. I finished the first draft of my M/M Vampire short, "Hot Hollyweird Night," and that's in edits for a second draft while I decide where I want to submit it since I decided not to rush it for October 31. I'm trying to consider where the best home for it will be considering the dark subject matter.

The project I'm working on right now is another M/M paranormal romance called "Die for You," (hopefully) for MLR Press' "Hot Blooded" vampire anthology. Aiming to have the first draft done by mid-week, and the final in plenty of time to submit before the deadline.

After that, I've started work on a novella also for MLR Press, but this for their "Mix Tape" Anthology, a series of stories based on love songs. Being the classic rock girl that I am, I snatched up "Ready for Love" by Bad Company ASAP, and like one of those flashes of inspiration that just hits you now and then, what I think is a really great love story with fully formed characters just sort of sprang out of my head. It was going to just be a quickie, but like so many of my stories, it grew a plot. This one I'm really excited about! It's not due until March, but I suspect it will be submitted before then.

Well, I think that's it before now. My alter ego H.A. has NaNo words to crank out before loafing in front of Netflix for her daily dose of Dean Winchester. Au revoir, my naughty babies!
