Wicked means a lot of things: coloring outside the lines in life and in the bedroom; being different than the average, run-of-the-mill. Wicked is an adverb that adds a flash of special to any descriptor, and if you're a surfer, you've just had the ride of your life. Let's not forget the classic Broadway show, either!
Of course, my favorite kind of wicked is the steamy kind. A little kink -- or a lot, depending on my mood. In my upcoming novella (out November 15 from
Cobblestone Press!), IF WISHES WERE SHADOWS, the heroine, Calinda, definitely embraces her "wickedness" -- her heart (and other places) calls her to follow the man she loves into the ultimate depths of her desire, and it changes her forever in ways she never could have dreamed.
Wicked doesn't have to be about kink (although I really like it that way) -- it can also be a state of mind, an attitude the colors everything about a character. A wicked rogue from an old fashioned (or new, erotic!) historical. A smart aleck with a wicked sense of humor.
But it's the "after dark" part that's important here. The world of the paranormal and BDSM romance both offer opportunities to reach into experiences that might be considered "wicked" in other company, but around here we can revel in what really turns us on, can't we? Let me know what you think when you imagine "wicked after dark," and you'll be entered to win a $10 gift card from
